Treatment Centers

residential2Individuals who are suffering from a drug addiction or substance abuse problem are rarely able to treat themselves.   In fact, not seeking professional help usually causes the individual’s condition to worsen, as they sink deeper into isolation – and slip away from the possibility of real solution.   Drug treatment centers are important because they do not allow this to happen – instead, helping the individual get clean and change their lives in such a way that they can maintain sobriety for many years.

Different Types of Drug Treatment Centers

The two primary drug treatment center formats are inpatient and outpatient.   Each offer comprehensive drug treatment help, but do so in different ways.  Inpatient programs are for those who need to leave their home environment in order to find drug treatment help that is effective and free of the stressors found in their daily life.

Outpatient programs, on the other hand, are designed for those individuals who need to maintain a presence at work or school during treatment – or are the “head of household” and as such must maintain their family obligations.   Because outpatient drug treatment takes place for a handful of hours out of the day, the individual has more freedom to accomplish their goals outside of treatment.

Specialized Drug Treatment Centers

Within the inpatient and outpatient treatment models, there are a number of specialized programs that speak to a select audience of addicted individuals.   These programs include:

  • Teen drug treatment centers.  For young people struggling with addiction, these programs address youth-oriented issues such as peer pressure, self-image problems or past physical or sexual abuse.
  • Drug treatment centers for women.  These facilities provide a safe place for women to heal, and gain strength from other women in the program who are going through the same circumstances.
  • Holistic drug treatment centers.   These are addiction treatment programs that utilized holistic practices such as meditation, yoga and acupuncture to enhance wellness and promote the recovery process.
