Drug Treatment

Find Drug Treatment

Whether an individual has a substance abuse problem or a full-on addiction, drug treatment help is the most effective way to combat the condition. Drug treatment centers around the country have helped countless individuals overcome their dependence and provide individuals with the tools they need to live life to the fullest.

Who should Consider Drug Treatment?

Drug treatment programs are designed to help individuals who are using drugs to the detriment of their own health and well-being (as well as the well-being of those around them). Using drugs in this way is referred to as substance abuse. But the majority of individuals at drug treatment centers have a full medically classified addiction. Drug addiction occurs when the individual feels that they cannot function without the use of drugs, or experience withdrawal symptoms when not using.

Different types of Drug Treatment

With a number of different drug treatment options available, individuals have a chance to select a program that best meets their needs. The most common classifications of drug treatment include:

  • Outpatient drug treatment. These are programs in which the individual attends counseling, detox and other programs during the day and then returns home (or to a sober living facility) in the evening.
  • Residential drug treatment. Residential treatment has individuals moving into a facility and living side-by-side with other recovering addicts during rehab. This is an ideal choice for those who need to leave a harmful or stressful environment in order to focus solely on their drug treatment and recovery.
  • Holistic drug treatment. Many drug treatment programs incorporate holistic teachings and activities into their recovery plan. These can include yoga, acupuncture, meditation, nutritional counseling and other means of enhancing overall wellness.
  • Teen drug treatment. Teens and adolescents are considered among the highest risk groups in terms of drug addiction. Teen drug treatment programs speak to the unique needs of young people and the challenges they face.
